Guaimaca, Honduras Honduran Mission

Welcome!

The Diocese of Fall River has been blessed with many gifts, among them is the spirit of christian compassion. Throughout the years the people of the Diocese have reached out to those in need and put into practice the commandment that Christ gave his followers, "Love one another."

In the Jubilee Year 2000, we began a special outreach to the people of Honduras through our Diocesan Mission in Guaimaca. Again, the people of the Diocese moved beyond the diocesan boundaries to meet the needs of their brothers and sisters in Honduras. The support and outreach has developed into a Christian bond between the people of the Diocese of Fall River and the Archdiocese of Tegucigalpa.

Parish groups, university students, men and women of all walks of life, have made a commitment to respond to the needy. Some have visited and worked in the Mission, others have organized collection drives of medicines, school supplies, and clothing, to assist our poor brothers and sisters.

As St. James reminds us, faith is completed by good works.

Annual Visit

Each year Bishop Coleman travels to the Mission in Honduras, usually in February, to celebrate the Sacrament of Confirmation with the parish youth.

He visits with the Mission Team and celebrates Mass and Baptism in some of the outlying villages.

Through the Bishop's pastoral visit, the parishioners understand the spiritual connection between the parish and the Diocese of Fall River.
