Marie Poussepin Center

Along with health care, a principal charism of the Dominican Sisters of the Presentation is the education of poor young girls, as inspired by their founder, Blessed Marie Poussepin.

The Marie Poussepin Center for the Integral Formation of Young Women seeks to meet the educational needs of the young girls who live in the poorer outlying villages.

These young women are from poorer families and would not otherwise have the chance for an education.  Dominican Sister Teresa Maria, directs the Center and leads a group of teachers and volunteers in the formation of their young students.

A way to ensure a better standard of living in the future is to educate the youth of today.  This work is made possible through the countless donations of time, talent, and treasure

Who was Marie Poussepin?

Marie Poussepin was born on October 14, 1653 in Dourdan, France. At a very young age, Marie developed a passion for charitable works as she accompanied her mother to visit the sick poor.

Her compassion led her to found a community of the Third Order of St. Dominic to care for the sick and to educate girls "to keep the zeal for the education of the poor, the spirit of poverty, and love of work".
